WSSP Youth Scholarship

WSSP
PO Box 2145
Leavenworth, WA 98826

For several years, WSSP has been collecting funds designated for a Youth Scholarship program. In 2005 we awarded our first scholarship to a college-bound student and again in 2006. In 2007 we had no applicants. Although members contibute to this fund throughout the year, the main bulk of monies raised are by donation of a ewe lamb sold at the Ram and Ewe Sale each year in Moses Lake.

In 2005 Dave and Julie Dashiell of Red Bull Ranch donated a Targhee ewe lamb.

In 2006 Kyle and Wendy Wilfong of Orchard Hollow Suffolks donated a Suffolk ewe lamb. The sale of this ewe brought in $1,050 to the fund. Our youth recipient was Ashley Harold.
In 2007 Ryan and Sarah (Maki) Smith of Maki Smith Sheep Farm donated a cross-bred ewe lamb that was auctioned off adding $1,210 to the fund and Todd Barth of 5B Sheep in Ephrata donated a Pyrenees puppy and raised $100 toward the fund. No scholarship applications were awarded in 2007.

In 2008, Jerry and Linda Kjack of KJ Suffolks in Walla Walla donated a Suffolk ewe lamb and we raised $950 for the fund with the proceeds from this ewe.

Little Creek Columbias of Post Falls, Idaho donated a Columbia ewe lamb for our 2009 Youth Scholarship program auction, which raised $1300.

Congratulations to our 2009 Youth Scholarship recipients!
Kilee Roberts - $750
Matt Garneau - $750
